Resource Family Approval (RFA) Program

Welcome to the Orange County Probation Department’s Resource Family Approval (RFA) Program information page. RFA is a new family-friendly and child-centered approach to approving both relative and non-relative families to foster or provide guardianship to children and youth in the child welfare system.  The Orange County Probation Department’s goal is to place youth with family members whenever possible. By working closely with family members, the Court and community resources, we strive to support families to care for their loved ones who have entered the juvenile justice system.  However, we also have a great need for non-related caregivers, willing to help youth make crucial positive behavioral change.  Whether you are a family member or a non-related caring member of the community, we would love to hear from you.  We look forward to assisting you along the path to becoming an RFA caregiver, a rewarding and valuable service.   While the site is still being developed, we are happy to provide all the RFA information you need by phone, personalized to meet your needs.  Please call the RFA coordinator at (714) 935-7621, to get answers to all your RFA related questions. We have also provided several links to some helpful resources which will give you more information about the RFA process.
