Department Honor Guard joins law enforcement agencies from across California in Sacramento to honor fallen peace officers and support the families who continue to carry their loss.
Sacramento, CA — May 5, 2026 — Members of the Orange County Probation Department Honor Guard participated in the 2026 California Peace Officers’ Memorial Ceremonies held May 3 and 4 at the State Capitol in Sacramento.
The annual memorial events brought together law enforcement agencies from throughout California for the Candlelight Vigil and Enshrinement Ceremony, where officers who lost their lives in the line of duty during the previous year were formally added to the California Peace Officers’ Memorial. Their names now join more than 1,600 peace officers commemorated since California became a state.
Orange County Probation joined its law enforcement partners in paying tribute to those officers while recognizing the lasting impact their loss continues to have on families, colleagues, and the communities they served.
Chief Probation Officer Daniel Hernandez underscored the importance of Orange County Probation standing alongside fellow law enforcement in honoring those who gave their lives in service to others and acknowledging the sacrifice still carried by the loved ones they left behind.
For the Department, attendance at the annual memorial remains an important expression of solidarity, remembrance, and respect.
