Juvenile Operations

The Juvenile Operations Bureau (JOB) oversees Juvenile Hall and two juvenile camps—Youth Guidance Center (YGC) and Youth Leadership Academy (YLA). The facilities operate under California Board of State and Community Corrections regulations, ensuring, a safe and secure environment, professionally trained staff, comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation programs, compliance with all laws and regulations, and proper facility maintenance and development. Also included in JOB are the Juvenile Field Supervision and Juvenile Court Services divisions, which provide community supervision and services to youth and their families

Juvenile Court Services

The Juvenile Court Services Division provides intake screening for youth referred by law enforcement, completes investigation reports for the Juvenile Court, and provides Juvenile Court Officers for hearings. It participates in collaborative court programs such Juvenile Recovery Court and Youth Development Court, supervises youth in the pre-detention & pre-disposition program, and monitors non-wardship cases and juvenile diversion.  The division also focuses on preventing youth from entering the juvenile justice system by connecting them to community support systems and providing public safety through positive change.

Juvenile Supervision

The Juvenile Supervision Division oversees the supervision of youth on formal probation, provides foster care services, and operates two Youth Reporting Centers (YRCs) located in Anaheim and Santa Ana. The division provides foster care services in collaboration with the Social Services Agency and the Juvenile Court via a collaborative court model. The YRCs, in partnership with the Department of Education and the Health Care Agency offer academics, counseling, therapy, vocational training, and life skills development with the goal of fostering positive change, reducing the risk of recidivism, and decreasing detention. The Deputy Probation Officers in this division use evidence-based, trauma-informed, and family-focused practices to improve outcomes and promote long-term success for justice involved youth.
