Bureaus
The Orange County Probation Department is comprised of four Bureaus. Each Bureau is tasked with a variety of services and functions that serve the County of Orange. Click below to learn more:
Adult Operations
The Adult Operations Bureau delivers services through five divisions: AB 109/Postrelease Community Supervision, Adult Field Supervision, Special Supervision, Adult Re-Entry, and Adult Court Services. This bureau oversees individuals released from state prisons and county facilities, as well as noncustodial clients placed on formal supervision by the court. Its primary responsibilities include community supervision, facilitating rehabilitation, and ensuring compliance with court-ordered conditions, including returning clients to court if they violate their terms. Additionally, specialized services are provided for higher risk individuals convicted of domestic violence and sexual offenses.
Juvenile Operations
The Juvenile Operations Bureau (JOB) oversees Juvenile Hall and two juvenile camps—Youth Guidance Center (YGC) and Youth Leadership Academy (YLA). The facilities operate under California Board of State and Community Corrections regulations, ensuring, a safe and secure environment, professionally trained staff, comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation programs, compliance with all laws and regulations, and proper facility maintenance and development. Also included in JOB are the Juvenile Field Supervision and Juvenile Court Services divisions, which provide community supervision and services to youth and their families
Administrative Services
The Administrative and Fiscal Division is comprised of the Accounting and Finance, Budget, Clerical Support and Scheduling, Facilities Support, Safety and Risk Management, and Purchasing and Contracts. The division provides administrative and fiscal support services to the entire department. The division is comprised of approximately 285 professional staff who are located at the department’s 12 locations and 4 court offices.
Strategic Development
The Strategic Development Bureau is focused on the innovation and advancement of the Department. Public Affairs and Information handles internal and external messaging, managing media relations and social media to shape the Department’s public image. The Legislative and Policy team monitors legislation and engages with stakeholders. Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives focus on refining processes using feedback and data to boost efficiency across probation divisions. Community Engagement and Research play key roles in building public trust and guiding the Department’s strategies through outreach, victim services, and data-driven decision-making.
