Strategic Development

The Strategic Development Bureau is focused on the innovation and advancement of the Department. Public Affairs and Information handles internal and external messaging, managing media relations and social media to shape the Department’s public image. The Legislative and Policy team monitors legislation and engages with stakeholders. Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives focus on refining processes using feedback and data to boost efficiency across probation divisions. Community Engagement and Research play key roles in building public trust and guiding the Department’s strategies through outreach, victim services, and data-driven decision-making.

Public Affairs and Information

Public Affairs and Information serves as the Department’s primary channel for internal and external communication. This team is responsible for managing media relations, producing outreach content, and overseeing social media engagement. Their work ensures that the Department’s messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned with its mission. By building a strong digital presence, the team communicates the departments mission to the public. Through strategic communication efforts, they enhance transparency, community trust, and organizational cohesion. 

Legislation and Policy

The Legislative and Policy team serves as the bridge between the department and lawmakers, playing a crucial role in influencing policy decisions that impact operations. This team is tasked with tracking legislation, analyzing bills, and engaging with coalitions across the state to ensure that the Department stays ahead of the curve.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Quality Improvement

In an environment where change is constant, the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) efforts within the Strategic Development Division are designed to keep pace. CQI programs aim to foster a culture of excellence by continuously evaluating and refining processes based on stakeholder feedback and performance metrics.

Research

The Research team is pivotal in supporting informed decision-making across the organization. This team conducts comprehensive research on emerging trends, policy analysis, and evidence-based practices, providing valuable insights that guide program development and resource allocation. By synthesizing data from internal and external sources, Research ensures that the Division’s efforts remain relevant and effective.

Training and Volunteer Services

Training and Volunteer Services (TVS) serves as the agency’s hub for compliance, training, and community engagement. TVS oversees the standards for training and corrections compliance, staff onboarding, and coordination of internal and external training programs. This includes professional development in key areas such as firearms/range certification, CPR/First Aid, and other mandated trainings. TVS also leads staff wellness initiatives, and functions as the department's primary branch for volunteer involvement to strengthen connections between the department and the communities it serves.
